Tribhuvan University and Chinese Academy of Sciences Renewed MoU for Scientific Collaboration
Beijing, China, November 18, 2024 – A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Tribhuvan University (TU), Nepal, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) was renewed at the CAS headquarters in Beijing. The agreement was signed by Prof. Dr. Keshar Jung Baral, Vice-Chancellor of Tribhuvan University, and Prof. Hongping He, Vice President of CAS, in a ceremony attended by distinguished representatives from both institutions.
The renewed MoU signifies a commitment to strengthen scientific collaboration and enhance academic excellence. Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Keshar Jung Baral expressed his enthusiasm for advancing scientific development through joint efforts. He emphasized TU’s dedication to supporting the Kathmandu Center for Research and Education (KCRE), a center established in Kathmandu with the assistance of CAS’s Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research.
Prof. Hongping He, Vice President of CAS, acknowledged TU’s continuous cooperation in fostering academic partnerships and reaffirmed CAS’s intent to deepen collaboration with the Nepalese academic community.

This renewed MoU paves the way for collaborative research, faculty exchanges, and joint initiatives aimed at tackling scientific and academic challenges. Both institutions aim to utilize this partnership to foster innovation and address global and regional scientific concerns. This milestone reflects Tribhuvan University’s growing role in global academic networks, contributing to Nepal’s scientific and educational advancements.
