Tribhuvan University Academic Council
Tribhuvan University Academic Council is the academic body responsible for determining academic policies and overseeing the academic affairs of the university. It plays vital role in maintaining and improving academic standard of the university. According to Tribhuvan University Act 2049 B.S., Chapter 4, Academic Council is constituted under the chair of Vice-Chancellor comprising fifty members from various academic disciplines to function as the academic body of the University.
The functions, duties and rights of the Academic Council are as follows:
(a) To arrange for the degrees awarded by the University.
(b) To determine the curricula of the subjects to be studied, researched and trained under the University.
(c) To specify the type of examination.
(d) To prescribe the qualifications required for admission to the subjects to be studied, taught and researched in the University and the basis for admission (eligibility Criteria).
(e) To advise and suggest the Executive Council on academic matters.
(f) To determine the policy relating to research.
(g) To approve or give directions for the implementation of the recommendations and decisions made by Faculty Board of the University.
(h) To perform other functions as prescribed.
