Chinese Academy of Sciences Delegation from RCEES Visited Tribhuvan University

Tribhuvan University (TU) hosted a delegation from the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences (RCEES), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), at the Kathmandu Center for Research and Education (KCRE, TU-CAS).

Addressing the welcome ceremony, Prof. Dr. Anjana Singh, Rector of Tribhuvan University, expressed gratitude to the Chinese Academy of Sciences for its continued support through KCRE. She called for elevating scientific collaboration between Nepal and China to a new level and reaffirmed TU's commitment to working closely with Chinese scientists to strengthen the research capacity of Nepalese scientists and scholars.

Prof. Hu Chengzhi, Deputy Director of RCEES-CAS and head of the delegation, said the Center is working to provide clean drinking water to communities affected by the flooding that struck Nepal on August 26. He expressed strong interest in deepening collaboration in water purification and environmental engineering.

Speaking on behalf of Academician Prof. Qu Jiuhui, Dr. Yang Min, Professor at RCEES-CAS, noted that the delegation's discussions with the Government of Nepal had laid the groundwork for joint work on water supply and purification technologies.

Dr. Xu Tianli, Deputy Director of KCRE, presented a brief overview of the Center, highlighting the scientific support, initiatives, and collaborative achievements it has delivered since its establishment in 2014.

Prof. Dr. Deepak Aryal, former Vice-Chancellor of Tribhuvan University and Professor at the Central Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (CDHM), commended the sustained support extended by CAS through scientific laboratories, equipment, student grants, and data-sharing collaboration. He also noted the growing interest among Nepali students in pursuing higher education at Chinese universities.

Prof. Dr. Shankar Prasad Khanal, Dean of the Institute of Science and Technology (IOST), acknowledged KCRE's contributions to capacity development, student grants, research collaboration, and academic publications.

Prof. Dr. Vishnu Prasad Pandey, Executive Director of the Centre for International Relations, Tribhuvan University, delivered a presentation to the RCEES-CAS delegation outlining the university's international collaborations and achievements. During the visit Dr Ma Baisen, Professor at RCEES-CAS, Dr. Gu Zhen'ao, Associate  Professor, RCEES-CAS, Dr. Lu Chaojie, Engineer, RCEES-CAS, Dr. LiLi,  Chief Scientist,Beijing Enterprises Water Group Limited, Xie Chengcheng, Secretary General, Water Environment and Water Ecology Branch, Xu Yunxiang, General Manager (South Asia Region) China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC). Xu Tao, President, Jiangsu  Jianshan Environmental Protection  Engineering Group Co.Ltd and Li Yanwei, Secretariat,Water Environment and Water Ecology Branch, CSES were included .
