The 3rd Trans-Himalaya Communication and Social Development Conference has been organized jointly by the Central Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Tribhuvan University (Nepal), the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), Kangba TV (China), and Himalayan Television (Nepal). The conference features the participation of renowned academic communities from friendly nations: China, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Bhutan.

The inaugural session of the conference, held at the Camera Building of the Central Department of Journalism and Mass Communication located at Balkhu Height, was addressed by Tribhuvan University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Deepak Aryal. He stated that Tribhuvan University has maintained deep mutual academic and research collaboration with prominent universities and social/scientific research centers in friendly nation China, and has also been organizing international seminars and conferences in partnership with higher education institutions from other countries worldwide. As the largest and leading university in Nepal, he noted that Tribhuvan University has built extensive networks and relationships that are currently in the implementation phase, despite associated complexities. He expressed the view that mutual communication and contact organize and enhance the effectiveness of social relationships and activities.

Tribhuvan University Rector Prof. Dr. Khadga K.C., while sharing his thoughts under the title "Changing Geopolitical Dynamics and Rationale of Global Communication", highlighted that geopolitical environments play a significant role in a country’s economic, political, social, and cultural development and progress. He emphasized that communication, social contact, and relationships can manage complex and far-reaching crises at both national and international levels. He stressed that a small and developing nation like Nepal must strategically utilize international contacts and communication. He expressed hope that the 3rd Trans-Himalaya Communication and Social Development Conference would facilitate continuous exchange of academic capabilities between Tribhuvan University and the University of Electronic Science and Technology.

Prof. Ding Haung, Dean of the School of Public Administration at UESTC, stated that the 3rd Trans-Himalaya Communication and Social Development Conference, organized on the occasion of 70 years of diplomatic and friendly relations between Nepal and China, is expected to serve as a milestone in exchanging cultural values and perspectives as well as in shaping sustainable social relationships.

Dr. Kundan Aryal, Head of the Central Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Tribhuvan University and Chair of the inaugural session, provided information about the conference and said that important discussions and ideas on inter-country communication and relationship-building would be deliberated upon.

The program also featured goodwill messages from Mr. Govinda Dhakal, Executive Officer of Himalayan Television, and Mr. Li Yuanjie, Deputy Chief Editor of Sichuan Radio and Television, China.
