Faculty Capacity Enhancement Training for English and Sociology Teachers Bhaktapur,

Tribhuvan University (TU), Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, has organized a Faculty Capacity Enhancement Training for teachers of English and Sociology working in various constituent campuses and central departments.The residential training, held from 2082.11.04 to was conducted at Ratnagiri Resort in Nagarkot, a tourist town in Bhaktapur district. Special priority was given to including the maximum number of teachers from outside the Kathmandu Valley who are young, have limited access, and have fewer opportunities.

Inaugurating the training, Tribhuvan University's Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Deepak Aryal stated that the dedicated and honest teachers who continuously engage in direct interaction with students in the classroom are truly the bearers of Tribhuvan University's future. He expressed the expectation that this capacity enhancement training would bring significant improvements in various aspects, including teaching methods, development of educational materials, research, and presentation skills.He also highlighted the existing problem of spending capacity at TU and mentioned plans to provide opportunities for capacity enhancement and other similar trainings in the coming days.A total of 35 teachers from English and 32 teachers from Sociology are participating in the training. 

During the inauguration program, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Dr. Bamdev Adhikari said that the training would feature interactions on various subject-specific methodologies, sharing of experiences and academic achievements, updating educational activities in line with new curricula, and deeper analysis by embracing changes observed in the global context.

Director of the Planning, Research, and Evaluation Division at University Grants Commission, Kedar Prasad Acharya, stated that financial support from the World Bank has been provided as a grant for capacity development enhancement training to develop university curricula and educational activities in a way that addresses the needs of the labor market. He added that the training is expected to make teachers more creative and innovative in teaching methods and research areas, while also fostering the concept of lifelong learning.

The program also featured good wishes and remarks from Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Dr. Chiranjivi Acharya and Dr. Khomraj Kharel; Head of the Central Department of English Prof. Dr. Dhruba Karki; Head of the Central Department of Sociology Dr. Pasang Sherpa; and Expert Prof. Dr. Binod Pokharel, who was involved in writing the training proposal.

Facilitators for the English side include: Prof. Dr. Anirudra Thapa, Dr. Bal Bahadur Thapa, Laxman Bhatt, Dr. Khum Prasad Sharma, Dr. Shiva Rijal, Dr. Hemlal Pandey, Associate Prof. Dr. Toyanath Upadhyay, Kumar Prasun, Roshan Tandukar, Prof. Dr. Jiblal Sapkota, Prof. Dr. Krishna Chandra Sharma, Dr. Keshav Sigdel, Prof. Dr. Anand Sharma, Prof. Dr. Dhurba Karki, Dr. Raju Baral, Associate Prof. Dr. Anju Gupta, and others.For the Sociology side: Prof. Dr. Chaitanya Mishra, Prof. Surendra Mishra, Dr. Tika Gautam, Dr. Guman Singh Khatri, Dr. Keshav Silwal, Prem Bahadur Chalaune, Dr. Shambhu Prasad Kattel, Prof. Dr. Yubaraj Luitel, Dr. Pasang Sherpa, Dr. Sudip Nakarmi, Dr. Dipesh Ghimire, Birendra Shah, Bharat Gurung, Prof. Dr. Peshal Khanal, Dr. Niti Aryal, Prof. Dr. Prem Sagar Chapagain, and others.This training is expected to contribute significantly to promoting quality teaching-learning in the university and strengthening a research-oriented educational environment.
